Healthcare In Transition

An avalanche of advances in information technology is poised to reshape the healthcare landscape, and the Boston area, home to one of the world's greatest concentrations of medical research institutions and technology innovators, is at the forefront of this transformation. The innovations afoot extend far beyond electronic medical records and other efforts to make traditional medical practices more efficient, encompassing everything from health-management apps and social networking for patients and doctors to robotic caregivers and implantable sensors that help physicians keep tabs on their patients from afar. Should the potential of such technologies be realized, healthcare will ultimately be defined much less by the treatment of illness and much more by the enhancement of wellness throughout people's lives.

Xconomy is rallying top clinicians, entrepreneurs, executives, and technology innovators for a lively forum about this critical transformation at the new headquarters of the MIT Media Lab. Through keynote speeches, executive panels, presentations from visionary startups, and live demos, we’ll give you a unique, up-close look at the promise and reality of healthcare IT.
